Hexcil takes an often overlooked, everyday object such as the pencil and turns it into a construction toy kit. It takes advantage of standard manufacturing measurements of the common hexagonal pencils. Hexcil connects pencils in different orientations to create numerous structures.
The packaging is simple but is as designed as what’s in it. The box contains a mechanical component that makes it more than meets the eye. A hole allows the inner box to be pushed out but is stopped before popping out. Another hole in the bottom allows for easy access to both layers.
Differently shaped connectors allow pencils to link in different orientations. They connect two pencils in distinct ways from each other to create more structures. The I-connector connects the pencils inline to each other. The T-connector connects the pencils perpendicularly to each other. The H-connector connects the pencils parallel to each other.
